Paris To Palm Beach: How My Travels Shape Your Luxury Interior Design

Denise Jadd

There is nothing like walking the streets of Paris and realizing that every doorway, café chair, and rooftop terrace is quietly teaching a masterclass in interior design. As a young adult, I was lucky enough to live in the heart of Paris, and today, as a Palm Beach interior designer, my recent trips to Paris - four this year - deepened the way I see color, light, scale, and storytelling in our luxury coastal interiors South Florida homes.

In this post, consider this your front-row seat to how Parisian style with artful living and classical perspective is finding its way into Domaine Luxe projects throughout Palm Beach, Delray Beach, and Boca Raton.

If you love refined, modern, livable luxury and want your luxury coastal Palm Beach interiors to feel both elevated and effortless, Paris offers a treasure trove of inspiration. From limestone facades and herringbone wood floors to café lighting and curated art walls, the city showed exactly how to blend timeless architecture with fresh, contemporary design.

Why DESIGNers Travel for Inspiration

Design travel is never just a vacation; it is on-the-ground research. In Paris, every arrondissement reveals a different take on balance, proportion, and detail that translates beautifully into luxury modern expression interior design back home in Palm Beach.

For Domaine Luxe, travel-informed design means:

  • Discovering new color palettes and material combinations that still feel authentic to the Palm Beach lifestyle.

  • Studying how historic architecture and modern furnishings coexist without visual conflict.

  • Finding artisans, textiles, and styling details that help your home feel collected, not “catalog.”

When clients hire a Palm Beach interior designer, they are not just hiring someone to choose pretty pillows; they are hiring a trained eye that gathers global references and turns them into a coherently expressed story at home.

The Parisian Design Codes that Translate to Palm Beach

One of the most vibrant areas of modern design,  the world of style and fashion, has been fed by the artistic background of art history as articulated by the Musée du Louvre. Fashion, visual culture, and decorative arts are all influenced by its extensive collections. The Louvre Couture -Art and Fashion: Statement Pieces ran from January to August, with a million people - and me - in attendance. Fashion garments and accessories were on special loan from the most iconic fashion houses, were displayed within certain interiors to highlight the parallels. The ornamentation and historical perspective gained for luxury coastal interiors was astounding!

Parisian interiors are known for a specific mix: elegant bones, edited furnishings, and one or two bold, unexpected choices. That structure works beautifully for Palm Beach interior design, where homes often have great natural light, airy ceilings, and a strong relationship to the outdoors.

Key Parisian design ideas that adapt well to luxury Palm Beach coastal interiors:

  • Architectural emphasis: Simple wall mouldings, paneled doors, and refined trim details highlight the “frame” of the room without feeling fussy.

  • Curated minimalism: Fewer pieces, but better pieces, so every chair, table, or light fixture earns its place.

  • Soft neutrals with one strong accent: A calm backdrop with strategic color—whether that is a saturated velvet chair or a single statement artwork.

In coastal Palm Beach, this translates to bright, sun-washed rooms grounded by structured millwork, high-quality upholstery, and thoughtfully layered accessories that feel breezy, not busy.

Design in Color: From Parisian Neutrals to Coastal Chic

Walking along the Seine and through the Marais, the real Paris color palette reveals itself: warm limestone, soft dove grey, muted olive, black ironwork, and the palest blush from café awnings and patisserie displays. For luxury coastal interiors of a Palm Beach home, those tones create a sophisticated counterbalance to the turquoise Atlantic and lush tropical greens just outside your windows.

How that looks in a Palm Beach interior:

  • Walls in layered neutrals rather than stark white, so the space feels creamy and inviting.

  • Black or bronze accents in hardware, lighting, and framing to mimic Parisian ironwork without feeling heavy in the Florida light.

  • A controlled use of Palm Beach color—think coral, sea glass, or palm green—styled more like a Parisian accent than an all-over theme.

Color science and travel-inspired palettes together help Palm Beach interior designer Domaine Luxe create interiors that feel elevated, not overdone, especially in Palm Beach living rooms, primary suites, and oceanfront open-concept spaces.

Light, Scale, And the Art of Restraint

One of the most powerful lessons from Paris is how intentionally light is handled. Tall windows, airy sheers, and reflective surfaces are used to bounce light deeper into a room instead of fighting it. In a luxury coastal interiors Palm Beach home, whether in Seven Bridges, Mizner Country Club, Lotus Boca Raton or in El Cid, we are blessed with abundant sunshine, similar strategies make spaces glow rather than glare.

Practical applications for Palm Beach interior design:

  • Layered window treatments: Soft sheers for day, lined draperies or tailored shades for privacy and temperature control.

  • Scaled lighting: In Parisian apartments, chandeliers, sconces, and table lamps are carefully proportioned to the architecture; in Palm Beach, overscaled fixtures can add drama while still maintaining balance.

  • Edited surfaces: Instead of filling every wall or tabletop, leaving some negative space allows key pieces to truly shine.

Restraint is a luxury, with key pieces taking the focal point. When a Palm Beach interior feels calm and intentional, it becomes a sanctuary from busy lives and busy visuals.

Architectural Details: Moulding, Floors and Doors

Many Parisian apartments share a few consistent architectural signatures: herringbone wood floors, tall baseboards, detailed casings, and classic panel doors. While not every Palm Beach home starts with those bones, a thoughtful renovation can echo the spirit of that craftsmanship even in newer construction.

Palm Beach-friendly architectural interpretations:

  • Simplified wall panels or picture frame mouldings painted in a single tone for subtle texture.

  • Chevron or wide-plank wood floors with finishes that hold up to coastal living.

  • Statement doors for entries, powder rooms, and primary suites, using unique hardware and color.

These luxury coastal interior details help create that “custom, collected over time” feeling that clients crave in luxury Palm Beach interiors, from Manalapan estates to, Stone Creek Ranch homes and Delray Beach waterfront condos.

Café Culture, Entertaining, and Palm Beach Lifestyles

Paris teaches that design is deeply connected to how people gather and live. Café terraces, intimate bistros, and chic hotel lobbies are all about creating spaces where conversation flows and time slows down. In Palm Beach, that same philosophy shapes how Domaine Luxe approaches living rooms, dining spaces, outdoor loggias, and poolside cabanas.

Design takeaways for entertaining-focused Palm Beach homes:

  • Multiple seating zones: Think cozy corners for morning coffee, larger conversation groupings for cocktail hour, and flexible furnishings that support both.

  • Hospitality-led details: Side tables where drinks can land, layered lighting, and thoughtfully styled bars for effortless entertaining.

  • Indoor–outdoor flow: French doors, consistent flooring materials, and cohesive color palettes that connect interior salons to waterfront terraces.

The result is a home that functions as beautifully as it photographs—a hallmark of both Parisian and Palm Beach luxury interior design.

As a Palm Beach interior designer influenced by years in Paris, I have learned that a beautifully designed kitchen or bath does far more than photograph well — it tells a cohesive lifestyle story of refined craftsmanship and a relaxed yet sybaritic Parisian or coastal chic style.

Parisian Influence + Resale Value

In Paris, beauty and function live side by side. From the refined cafés of Saint-Germain to the jewel-box kitchens inside Haussmann apartments, every element is thoughtfully considered to elevate daily rituals. That philosophy translates powerfully to Palm Beach kitchens and baths, where elevated materials, layered lighting, and tailored layouts make everyday living feel like a boutique hotel experience.

Designing with intention not only enhances lifestyle, it signals quality and craftsmanship in a way that resonates with luxury buyers. Well-designed kitchens and primary suites consistently rank among the highest-value investments in Palm Beach real estate, driving stronger offers and faster sales by creating an emotional connection the moment buyers step inside.

Incorporating Parisian principles—refined, natural finishes, elegant lines, appropriate statement lighting, curated hardware—ensures these spaces remain timeless, sophisticated, and highly desirable for years to come.

Art, Vintage Finds, and Storytelling

Paris is a haven for art and antiques, from grand museums to tiny galleries and weekend flea markets. That influence shows up in Domaine Luxe projects through curated art collections, vintage pieces with patina, and meaningful objects layered into the design.

In Palm Beach interiors, that might mean:

  • A mix of contemporary art with one or two older pieces to ground the room.

  • Vintage side tables, mirrors, or seating reupholstered in performance fabrics suitable for coastal living.

  • Displaying travel mementos, accessories, photography, or books in a way that feels elevated rather than cluttered.

Story-driven design is central to modern luxury interiors, and blending Palm Beach lifestyle with world-travel inspirations gives each home its own distinct narrative.

Parisian Chic In Specific Palm Beach Spaces

Different rooms call for different translations of Parisian style. For Palm Beach homeowners interested in a travel-inspired refresh, these are some favorite applications.

More lighting is layered through wall sconces highlighting the mirror on both sides and above the modern art on each wall. The two large doors letting in light are covered with light drapery, flowing from ceiling to floor.

  • Structured seating plans with conversation in mind instead of furniture pushed against walls.

  • Layered lighting, from chandeliers to art lights, to make evenings feel warm and inviting.

  • A focus on symmetry and balance that still leaves room for one playful, modern twist.

  • Thoughtful bedside lighting, reading niches, and small seating areas that feel like a boutique hotel suite.

  • Artwork and accessories that reflect both the ocean outside and your own travel story.

Paris has always felt like home to me. Living there taught me that the most beautiful rooms are not about formality - they’re about feeling.

Standing in the Ritz Salon Proust, I’m reminded how warmth, soft light, and thoughtful details invite people to linger, talk, and truly enjoy being together.

That same philosophy guides my work today, from Paris to Palm Beach- creating homes that feel elegant, and timeless, especially during the holiday season.
